"You shall not have other gods before me" - the sin of idolatry. 
1. From the Book of Deuteronomy:
"Listen, Israel, the Lord is our God - the only Lord. You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.
Let the words that I command you today remain in your heart.
You will teach them to your sons, you will talk about them while at home, while traveling, going to sleep and getting up from sleep.
You will tie them to your hand as a sign. Let them be an ornament in your eyes. Write them on the door of your home and at your gates. "

2. An example of breaking the first commandment, straight from the life of the Church. 
Recently, we have all received information about the events at the Amazon Synod, during which the first commandment was broken. A figure of a pagan goddess was introduced into the Catholic temple.
To the temple where the Holy Mass is celebrated and the Holy Sacrifice is made on the altar! The place of prayer became a place where pagan goddness was openly worshiped.

In the above scripture passage, God says: "Listen to Israel, the Lord is our God, the only Lord!"

What follows: we break the commandments (including the first commandment) when we do not listen to God or even try to obey Him.Even more difficult is to try to hear what the Lord is saying to us ("Listen to Israel!").
So I think that our disobedience to God's voice comes to the sin of idolatry.

3. Wearing amulets and other sins of idolatry. 
Wearing amulets, going to fairies or bioenergy therapists, attending the so-called halloween, reading horoscopes etc., I say to God: "You are not my only God" and I open the gate to the evil spirit and invite him to my life.
I make an idol out of the ring and seem to "I play" on Halloween and I treat it as a joke, but the evil spirit knows no jokes, he enters our lives with his shoes and makes him a nightmare. And only Jesus Christ can pull us out of this swamp.
Since God gave us the first commandment: "You will not have other gods before me", it is not only because he is a jealous God for our love, but also for our good.

4. There is another important situation where I sin against the first commandment. . . . it's the sin of abortion, euthanasia and in vitro! 
Why? When I commit sin against life, I put myself in God's place and make myself better than the Creator.
So it is not only a sin to which we break the commandment: "Do not kill," but also idolatry!
It is the evil spirit that is trying to monkey God and strongly wants to create (in vitro) and deprive life (abortion). 

"I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery."
On earth and in heaven, the Holy Trinity reigns supreme, and breaking the commandments of God, we are pushed into the bondage of sin, the symbol of which is the land of Egypt.
It depends on us whether we will be happy worshiping the Holy Trinity, because the Lord does not refuse His worshipers!
